Oven and cooker repair in Cardiff

Professional Electric Repairs in Cardiff

An oven that won't heat, cooks unevenly, or has a noisy fan can bring family life to a standstill. Our Cardiff engineers repair built-in single and double ovens, freestanding electric cookers, and ceramic and induction hobs - restoring safe, accurate cooking without the cost of a new appliance.

We serve Cardiff and the wider area including Cyncoed, Lisvane, Birchgrove, Ely and St Mellons. Carrying common elements, thermostats, fan motors and door seals, we complete most oven repairs in a single visit, with a fixed labour price agreed before any work begins.

Please note we specialise in electric cooking appliances. We diagnose the fault properly using the correct test equipment, fit genuine or high-quality compatible parts, and back the work with our guarantee.

Common Oven & Cooker Faults We Fix

Not Heating Up

The fan runs and the light is on, but there's no heat. This is almost always a blown circular fan oven element, which we can replace quickly.

Overheating / Burning Food

If your oven gets too hot regardless of the setting, the thermostat has failed. We replace thermostats to restore accurate temperature control.

Fan Making Noise

A loud rattling or buzzing means the fan motor bearings are worn or the fan blade is loose or damaged. We supply and fit new oven fan motors.

Door Won't Close Properly

Broken hinges or perished door seals let heat escape, ruining your cooking and wasting energy. We replace hinges and seals.

Hob Rings Not Working

Dead ceramic or induction zones are often caused by a faulty element, energy regulator, or a cracked touch-control panel.

Oven Light or Controls Failed

Unresponsive controls, a blank display, or a dead interior light usually point to a faulty switch, lamp, or control board.

Signs You Need a Repair

  • Food takes far longer to cook than it used to
  • The oven burns food even on a low setting
  • Loud rattling or whining from the fan
  • Heat escaping from around the oven door
  • One or more hob zones no longer heat up
  • A burning electrical smell or tripping fuses when in use

Repair or Replace?

The vast majority of oven faults are caused by a single, affordable component - an element, thermostat, fan motor or door seal - all of which are quick to replace and far cheaper than a new cooker. Built-in ovens are particularly worth repairing, since replacing one often means buying a model that fits the existing housing.

If an oven is very old or has multiple failing parts, we'll give you a frank assessment of whether a repair is worthwhile, so you're never pressured into spending more than the appliance is worth.

Tips to Keep Your Oven in Top Condition

  • Clean spills promptly - baked-on grease can damage elements and affect the door seal over time.
  • Avoid using harsh oven sprays on the element or fan; wipe these areas gently instead.
  • Check the door seal regularly for gaps or perishing, as a poor seal wastes energy and slows cooking.
  • Use an oven thermometer occasionally to check the temperature is accurate against the dial.
  • Don't line the oven base with foil, which can reflect heat, block airflow and damage the element.

Oven & Cooker Repair FAQs

Why is my fan oven not heating up?

When the fan turns and the light works but there's no heat, the cause is almost always a failed fan oven element. It's one of the most common - and most affordable - oven repairs we carry out.

Do you repair gas cookers or hobs?

No. We specialise in electric ovens, cookers and hobs only, including ceramic and induction. We do not currently service gas appliances.

Can you fix a built-in oven?

Yes. We repair both built-in (integrated) and freestanding electric ovens and cookers, and can safely remove and refit a built-in oven where needed.

My oven temperature is wrong - can it be fixed?

Usually, yes. Inaccurate temperatures are typically caused by a faulty thermostat, which we can replace to restore precise, reliable cooking temperatures.
